Global Consequences
I think that the global consequences of lockdowns are by far an issue that is largely disregarded and ignored. We know from the statistics that the lockdowns and mandates had no positive effect on reducing the effects of the epidemic. So there is no benefit from these measures, but what is the global impact economically, psychologically, and physically.
Let me start by saying that there is a definite bias as concerns these questions and there has been a study in New Zealand at the University of Otago published in The Journal of Experimental Social Psychology that examines why it exists.
This study looked at people's readiness to overlook the negative consequences of lockdown. It's called "Moralization of COVID-19 Health Response: Asymmetry in Tolerance for Human Costs." The "asymmetry" in the title refers to people's extreme unwillingness to tolerate COVID-related suffering on the one hand and their much-reduced concern for lockdown-related suffering on the other.
Participants were presented with two research proposal descriptions. Both proposals involved the same research and gave the same information about the methods used. Yet people described the anti-lockdown research as having less rigorous methods and relying on less accurate information, and they trusted the research teamless. This is pure irrationality as the structure of each research proposal was exactly the same.
Moralization may be a natural response to any health threat, but this process may also blind people to the potential of human costs resulting from a Covid-19 elimination strategy (e.g., extreme financial strain, undiagnosed illnesses). Importantly, the moralization of Covid-19 may also mean that merely questioning elimination strategies is not acceptable. Indeed, this is exactly what their findings revealed.
So what are the costs of the global lockdown consequences?
Medical Consequences-
650,000 patients are undergoing chemotherapy at any one time. 1/2 have stopped their treatments.
2/3 to 3/4 of cancer screenings were not done.
40-50% of people with heart attacks did not call an ambulance.
deaths of despair: When people lose their jobs or cannot be around other people, suicide, opioid deaths, and alcohol-related deaths go up.
Economic Consequences-
265 million people worldwide are facing acute food shortages (WFP, Oct. 10)
100 million additional people have fallen into the extreme poverty category, living on less than $1 per day (World Bank, Oct 12)
The WHO estimates that 140 million people will starve to death because of the economic fallout secondary to the lockdowns (September).
In the US alone, 11 million still do not have their jobs back. Loss of income, loss of life savings, evictions, etc., resulted. 100,000 businesses have closed permanently (as of September 16) and the number continues to increase.
If I hear one more sound bite about saving grandma or that somehow the adherence to the current mandates being associated with love and kindness I will spontaneously combust. We are not protecting the elderly, as many of the elderly would rather die than be isolated from their loved ones. We are not practicing love and kindness, but rather humanicide on a global scale. True love and kindness will reveal the lie and expose what is hidden in the darkness. Let's open our eyes and hearts to the truth about our current condition and move together with compassion toward a resolution of the corruption and unfettered power that controls our planet without care for humanity. We must never let the darkness prevail by allowing the masses to be relegated to a mute position of impotence.
